Gordana Stefanović, PhD, Associate Professor on Department of Thermal and Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering University of Nis is a researcher in the area of the sustainable development, environmental engineering, waste treatment, environmental impact of energy on enviroment. She is a head of accredited (2009-2011) as well as Teaching laboratories for fuel and lubricant at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Nis. Main teaching activities: Sustainable development and environmental protection, Selected topics in theory of sustainable development, Basic of process engineering, Combustion, Fuel, Solid waste management, Waste water treatment, Ecology management, Systems of environmental management.


After Gimnazium “Bosa Cvetic” in Krusevac she graduated (1983) on the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade on the study profile Environmental engineering. In 1994 obtained M.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Niš, with the name of M.Sc. thesis: “Desulphurization of flue gas using fly ash as a sorbent”. Year 2007. she defended her doctoral thesis “The mechanisms and phenomena in the system of portland cement - fly ash depending on the characteristics of fly ash” at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. From 1985-1988. she was employed in the MIN Istitute in Niš. Since 1988 employed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering University of Niš.


She has participated as a coordinator and a researcher in the FP projects, Cross border cooperation project, Tempus projects, Bylateral projects, 11 national research projects and other internatianal projects:

• Coordinator of the project “Energy efficiency in households - a long road or just a step away”, project no.  2007CB16IPO006-2009-1-85 of the Bulgaria - Republic of Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program (2011). 
• Member of the project Bilateral Science and Technology Cooperation Program between Serbia and Croatia: ”Program Significance of sustainable development principles in Euro integration processes” (2008-2010). 
• Member of FP6 Project "Web – Env " - Development of Environmental Guidelines For The Region Of Western Balkans (2005-2007). 
• Member of PRISMA-Program for Resettlement in Serbia and Montenegro Army.” The Training program is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.  Participated in education program creation for the civil job: „Manager for Environmental problems” (2006-2008).
• Expert of European knowledge, How to Negotiate and Administer Framework 7 Grant Agreements, Tempus project (2008.).
• Coordinator of national projects financially supported by Serbian Ministry of Science: Development of expert system for GHG inventory from diffused sources, (2008-2010),
• Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window, BASILEUS PROJECT,  (post-)doc/staff, Academic year 2009-201

• Mobility staying on the University of Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy of Sofia, In the field: Higher education institutions, For Project type: Capacity Building in Higher Education, For the curriculum: Energy efficiency and environmental protection, GreenTech project in the scope of Erasmus Mundus program, 2015.

In the area of waste management she was Manager of the projects: “The analysis of the quantity and structure of the solid waste from households in the city of Nis.”, 2005 Manager of the project „Primary assortment and waste recycling“, 2006., Support to Regional Solid waste Management Plan - Housholds Hazardous Waste, 2009., 2010. Aslo, she was Organizer of international student’s summer school Ecoworcshop – establishing of the Recyclimg Yard Center in the sity (2007).

She is/was a member and a coordinater of many committees on following conferences:
