Ksenija Denčić-Mihajlov was born on June 10, 1970 in Pirot, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She enrolled the studies at the Faculty of Economics, University of Nis in 1989 and graduated in 1993 with an average score of 9.58. In the school year 1994/1995 she enrolled postgraduate (magisterial) studies at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, module Management of the company, while she took her PhD degree at the Faculty of Economics, University of Nis in October 2004.

Having graduated, she was first hired in 1994 as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Economics, University of Nis (scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Serbia), and in 1995 she became a teaching assistant in Investment and finance management. In April 2005 she was elected to be an Assistant professor for the scientific field Business finance, accounting and auditing.

Besides teaching activities of Business Finance and International financial management according to accredited program of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics, Ksenija Denčić-Mihajlov is a Professor in Strategic Financial Management, Business and Financial Restructuring and International Project Management and Entrepreneurship (Course in English ) at master level and Corporate Financial Strategy at graduate level.

She is a member of the Editorial Board of the internationally refered journal The South-Eastern Journal of Economics, published by the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region, Thessaloniki, Greece.

She speaks English and German.

Ksenija Denčić-Mihajlov has participated in seven national and four international projects (one of which is an independent scientific research project, two TEMPUS projects and one Jean-Monnet project). During her academic career, she had several study visits abroad. In 2002, using the scholarship from the Norwegian Council for Science and Technology, she spent 10 months at the Department of Economics, University of Bergen and two weeks at the Department of Economics, University of Lund (Sweden). Within the TEMPUS project JEP 41103 - 2006 “Master of Science -International Business Development", she stayed in February 2008 at the ESC - Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Clermont-Ferrand, France. In addition, within the framework of TEMPUS project JEP CD 19087 - 2004 "Reorganization of Economics Study in Serbia", as a member of inter-team for Quality Assurance, she stayed one week at the University of Maribor (Slovenia), and in the framework of the Jean Monnet ERSG project (European Research Study Group no. 528832- LLP-2012-GR-AJM-RE), she visited in October 2012 University of Cyprus (Larnaca, Cyprus). In the academic year 2016/2017 she was visiting professor at the Institute of Finance, Law and Taxes, Ostafalia University, Wolfenbüttel, Germany.

Within the EU financed projects, starting from 2003, in organization of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Nis, Regional Agency for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, National Employment Service and the Center for Women's Entrepreneurship CTR and NGO "Suprima", Ksenija Denčić-Mihajlov has worked as an external consultant and held a series of lectures in the field of financial planning and analysis, leasing financing, business plans and business communication. As a member of the Institute for Economic Research, Faculty of Economics, University of Nis, Ksenija Denčić-Mihajlov participated in the drafting of several studies of estimation of the value of the company capital.

She has published 132 scientific papers, two books (one in the renewed edition) and three monographs of national importance.
