Description

The aim of this training course is to introduce the system for collection and transportation of waste in urban areas. The practical application of information communication technologies in the system of collection, transport and transshipment of waste in urban areas will be shown.
Training course will be realized on following sub-topics:
1. Waste Disposal Logistics (Separation, Collection, Transportation, Transhipment, Storage).
2. Waste transport in context with urban freight transport.

Example 2.1 Integral waste disposal system in the city of Niš (key words: reduction of vehicle kilometres, reduction containers, consolidation).
Objectives: Reduce traffic caused by waste collection and transport processes in the area and to reduce negative environmental impacts. Save costs by reducing trips and consolidation activities.
Example 2.2 New technologies that supports route planning and route optimization (key words: IC-technologies, route planning software, optimization route).
Objectives: The application of IC technology for optimal route planning for the collection and transportation of waste. The application of GIS technology for the positioning of containers.
Example 2.3 Potential of optimization in waste disposal logistics (key words: route optimization, simulation model).


Objectives: The aim is to create a model simulation that allows optimising the collecting system of different kinds of household waste by considering several objectives and parameter.

Impact The course demonstrated the practical application of IC-technologies in the system of waste collection and transport. Examples to show precedence application IC-technologies compared to conventional way of managing waste. Also to demonstrate the economic and environmental benefit application of this technology..
