Description | The main objective of the course is to identify emitter and emission in the cities and recognise the possibilities to manage them. The lectures to the students will be presented thought flowing sub-topics: 1. The main emitters and types of emissions in the urban area; 2. Legislation in EU concerning environment pollution; 3. European cooperation in the field of urban pollution minimization; 4. Air pollution - monitoring and control - from traffic - from energy production and consumption; 5. Municipal waste management - minimisation, collection, transport, deposition; 6. Hazardous waste management - special emphasis to collection and transport; 7. Waste mining as opportunity for resources preservation; 8. Noise as a pollution; 9. Energy efficiency as a way of pollution minimization; 10. New approach to pollution minimization - green roofs, smart buildings, (recirculation of energy, water and waste ); 11. Zero pollution cities - EU good practices and BAT in urban area. |
Impact | The outcome of this lecture is that the students should be able to recognize the environmental problems in urban areas, collect the European new ideas, adopt and understand EU legislation and standards as well as good practices and BAT in environmental problems solutions in order to implement this knowledge in further lifestyle and their workplaces. |
